All that above! That’s real! And here’s a more casual blurb so you can feel like you’re getting to know me a little bit better.
Where to start? The beginning? I was born and raised in Phoenixville, PA, outside of Philadelphia. The east coast and Philly in particular will always be home to me and therefore the better coast (uh oh, controversy), despite me kickin’ it out here on the west coast for the past 8 years.
And by kickin’ it, I mean moving out here and working my socially and societally acceptable career while really pursuing my love of dance, doing some casual (not) emotional healing on that good old path of human growth and development, then having a casual (not) dramatic worldview shift (late 20s early 30s, am I right?), finding more questions than answers, learning to love the questions, rediscovering my first love of acting, and slowly - SLOWLY - beginning to build a life and a home. So, you know, just kickin’ it, like we all do.
Wow okay what now? I value healing, individual and collective, because we can’t be having one without the other. I value my spirituality. I’ve always been deeply in touch with my emotions and inner life, and the sensitive kid is growing into a sensitive adult who continues to feel, think, and love deeply. I value queerness, and the forging of one’s own path. I value nuance, and the ability to communicate it. And I value ABSURDITY. This casual blurb was getting a little serious too, wasn’t it?! I fully believe that absurdity is the way through. I hang up my hat on that. Stamp my envelope on it. What else has the power to so immediately pull oneself out of one’s melancholy! And so fully! If all else fails in the noble quest to make this world a better place for everyone, we will still have absurdity.
So in summary, let’s tell all types of stories and create/inhabit all types of characters, and let art mirror life mirror art and do the dang thing. And if you’ve read this far, wow thanks for being such a committed reader! A+.
